Baptist Rural Support Services
has been established to provide:
Prayer –
prayer is primary,
everything else is consequential. Wesley said, God does nothing except
in answer to prayer.
Holistic
Ministry Development –
to assist churches in the development of ministries that focus on
community need rather than church need and to assist churches in bridging
the gap between the community and the church.
Networking
– to provide a
communication network for rural churches to enable churches to interact
with one another, sharing experiences, resources and ideas.
Training
– to provide training
for rural congregations as they seek to meet the challenges unique to
their situation and to enable them to implement mission strategies to
reach their communities for Christ.
Church
Planting & Support – to
explore and develop models for church planting more appropriate to rural
and remote situations and to develop effective means for the encouragement
and support of rural ministers and congregations in their work and witness
for Christ.
Research
– to facilitate and initiate research projects to assist rural churches in
their understanding of the communities they serve and assist churches to
develop new and appropriate strategies for more effective ministry to
their communities.
Advocacy –
to provide a voice and
forum for rural churches; to raise the profile and importance of rural
ministry; to assist non-rural congregations appreciate the level of
inequality and injustice that exists for rural communities, and to work
toward greater equity in the resources and support available to rural
churches.
